Description

We are searching for a Perfusionist -- someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will provide perfusion services to support cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) during congenital heart surgery, ECMO support, VAD support and cell saver procedures in an age-appropriate manner. Think you’ve got what it takes? Job Duties & Responsibilities * Performs direct patient care by operating the heart lung machine, ECMO, VAD, cell saver, and other support systems. * Sets up CPB circuits and other support systems according to case preferences and age appropriateness 100% of the time. * Completes the pre-pump checklist prior to the start of CPB 100% of the time. * Administer blood and medications before and during CPB per protocol and as directed by the surgeon/anesthesiologist 100% of the time. * Maintains pre-established range for mean arterial pressures by using appropriate interventions such as the use of Isoflurane via a vaporizer and/or the use of medications as directed by the surgeon or anesthesiologist 100% of the time. * Maintains appropriate patient temperature levels during CPB as directed by the surgeon/anesthesiologist 100% of the time. * Maintains physiological correct blood gases and ACT levels during CPB using appropriate medications as necessary as directed by the surgeon/anesthesiologist 100% of the time. * Provides patient support to monitor care areas during ECMO/VAD procedures 100% of the time. * Ensures that pump team supplies and equipment are readily available at all times. * Completes Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA) for all analyzers (ACT, glucometers, Gem Premiere) 100% of the time. * Participates in Staff education and is responsible for personal, professional growth and development. * As part of our commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace, all successful candidates will be required to undergo respiratory fit testing in compliance with occupational health and safety standards.
