Responsibilities
  • Maintain accounts payable system, including batch processing, balancing and reconciliation processes.
  • Verify accuracy and completeness of documentation related to invoices and requisitions.
  • Preparation of weekly cheque runs and EFT payment processing.
  • Liaise with vendors and staff regarding status of accounts and resolve matters of question.
  • Assist the accounting department and school office staff in accounting and reconciliation procedures.
  • Complete monthly, quarterly and year-end account reconciliations.
  • Develop and deliver training modules to Board staff as needed.
  • Account analysis and reconciliations as assigned.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • College Diploma with an Accounting focus or equivalent required.
  • Minimum two (2) years accounting experience in a mid to large multifaceted computerized corporate environment.

Assets:

  • Knowledge of Public Sector Accounting Board (PSAB) accounting standards, and Canadian Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Working knowledge of an accounting data base such as K212 Finance or equivalent.
  • Must have a high aptitude in computer skills (Excel, Accounting software, Word).
  • Demonstrated sound decision-making skills involving the use of initiative, judgment and resourcefulness with the ability to plan work from general procedures.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to multitask.
  • Strong communication and analytical ability with excellent interpersonal, organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated team member with excellent time management skills.
