Job Details Job Location: Preble Street - PORTLAND, ME 04101 The Housing Inspector conducts NSPIRE inspections and performs all related activities for the approval or disapproval of housing unit for housing subsidies. The Inspector will work collaboratively with landlords and tenants to ensure timely inspections and remedies. Population Served: People experiencing homelessness and/or housing instability. This is a full-time (40 hours/week) position with a Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm schedule Qualifications Required: High school diploma with computer and mathematical skills. Strong communication skills. Eligibility for NSPIRE certification. Understanding of the Preble Street mission, harm reduction, and social and economic justice, including the role of policy advocacy across all programs and positions. Ability to work autonomously with minimal oversight and supervision. Ability to establish and maintain professional boundaries with diverse populations. Understanding of confidential information management and the ability to strictly maintain confidentiality of sensitive and/or protected information. Ability to travel locally and statewide on a regular basis. Preferred: College degree in a relevant field. Two (2) to three (3) years of work experience. Current NSPIRE certification.
