Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Permit Coordinator with a strong background in safety and regulatory compliance to manage permitting activities and ensure alignment with federal, state, and agency-specific requirements. This role focuses on securing Caltrans and railroad easement permits, managing communication across internal teams and external agencies, and supporting the overall planning process for vegetation management projects. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations, contractor safety oversight, and permit acquisition processes, along with excellent communication and organizational skills. Business conduct must occur in accordance with OMS policies and procedures and be aligned with the goals of OMS.

Essential Functions:

  • Apply knowledge of federal and state health and safety regulations to support safe permitting practices and contractor coordination. Contribute to safety audits and program development as needed.
  • Manage permitting processes with agencies including Caltrans and railroads; prepare and submit complete and accurate permit packages in compliance with agency requirements.
  • Oversee the client permit mailbox and ensure stakeholders are regularly updated on permit status. Proactively identify and resolve permitting issues.
  • Support project planning efforts by researching permit requirements, conducting consultations, and preparing reports that inform timelines and strategy.
  • Assist in obtaining planning approvals and permits by preparing applications, coordinating with regulatory agencies, and ensuring timely updates and follow-through on all submittals.
  • Other duties as assigned by OMS or the client.

Qualifications:
o Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Geography, Natural Resources, or a related field.
o Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
o Certifications related to permit coordination or GIS are preferred but not required.
o 1–3 years of experience supporting environmental or utility permitting.
o Familiarity with agencies such as Caltrans, California State Parks, U.S. Forest Service (USFS), and local water districts.
o Conduct a background check, drug screening, and physical exam.
o Approval by Client Representative.
