Description JOB DESCRIPTION: This position involves customer service, issuing permits, computer data entry, and clerical tasks. We are seeking an individual with strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently under the general supervision of the Regulatory Manager. This is a non-exempt hourly wage position. Examples of Work: · Customer Service – maintain communication with other District departments, neighboring municipalities, customers, and contractors. · Strong Verbal and Written Communication Skills. · Front–line Respondent – responsible for handling permit-related questions through phone calls and emails. · Issuing Permits (residential, commercial, repair, and water inspection requests). · Collection of Fines/Invoicing. · Compose Routine Letters. · Maintains Electronic Filing System. · Coordinates Inspector’s Schedule. · Maintains Bonded Contractor List. · Data Entry/ Monthly Reports · Back –Up Related Responses. · Performs All Other Necessary Duties as Assigned. Requirements DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: Training and Experience · High School Diploma or Equivalent. · Two Years of College Preferred, but Not Required. · Two Years of Previous Customer Service Experience Required. · Municipal Experience Desired. · Proficient in Basic Computer Skills, Including Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. · Bilingual Applicants or Willingness to Learn Basic Spanish is a Plus. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Knowledge of modern office practices and of business English. Ability to maintain complex clerical records and prepare accurate reports and summaries from simple statistical material; ability to understand and follow difficult and varied oral and written instructions; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, co-workers, and the public.
