BROTHERS OF CHARITY SERVICES IRELAND – SOUTHERN REGION
The Brothers of Charity Services Ireland – Southern Region is a major voluntary organisation, which provides age related residential, educational and day services for people with intellectual disabilities, autism and communication disorders throughout the Cork and Kerry area.
The Social care leader (SCL)/ Person in Charge (PIC) has overall responsibility for the effective governance, operational management, and regulatory compliance of a designated centre for people with intellectual disabilities. The PIC ensures the residents receive high quality, person centred care and support that promotes dignity, rights, independence and quality of life in accordance with the Organisations policies and procedures, the health act 2007 (as amended) and relevant national standards. The SCL/PIC will partake in and manage the roster effectively to ensure adequate staffing in line with the Statement of Purpose.

Candidates must possess a full driving licence, which qualifies you to drive manual transmission vehicles on Irish roads as it is essential for the roles.
3. Age
The Public Service Superannuation (Age of Retirement) Act, 2018* set 70 years as the compulsory retirement age for public servants.
Public servants recruited between 1 April 2004 and 31 December 2012 (new entrants) have no compulsory retirement age.
Public servants recruited since 1 January 2013 are members of the Single Pension Scheme and have a compulsory retirement age of 70.
4. Health
Candidates for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.
5. Character
Candidates for and any person holding the office must be of good character.
6. Hours of Work
The normal working hours will be 37.5/39 hours per week (depending on qualification) however, flexible hours, including weekends, evenings and sleepovers are involved. Starting and finishing times will be as notified to the appointee from time to time by the line manager. It is essential that the PIC ensures that there is constant and appropriate cover available within the residential service at all times. The appointee may be required to work additional hours arising from the duties of the appointment and compensation for these hours by way of time off in lieu, to be taken in line with the policy. The appointee may be required to provide out of hours on call cover and act as a person on responsibility within the service.
Salary Scale: Social Care Manager 1: €56,351 - €65,827 (1/8/25 Consolidated Scales)
Clinical Nurse Manager 1: €56,642 - €66,705 (1/8/25 Consolidated Scales)
