  • Understanding of the role of a corporate parent and responsibilities towards care leavers.
  • Knowledge of the challenges facing young people as they transition into independent adulthood.
  • Experience of supporting young people in areas such as housing, employment, education, training, and health.
Responsibilities

WHAT’S INVOLVED WITH THIS ROLE:

We are seeking an enthusiastic, energetic, and passionate Personal Advisor to join our Aftercare Team, supporting care leavers as they transition into independence. The Aftercare Service works with children and young people subject to long-term care plans where the Local Authority holds parental responsibility.
The Personal Advisor will take day-to-day oversight of allocated cases, offering direct support, guidance, and advocacy to young people. This includes formulating, implementing, and reviewing Pathway Plans that help care leavers achieve positive outcomes in education, employment, training, housing, and personal wellbeing.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Act as a Personal Advisor to young people leaving care, providing tailored advice, guidance, and emotional support.
  • Take responsibility for a caseload, ensuring effective oversight and monitoring of young people’s progress.
  • Formulate, implement, and review Pathway Plans in partnership with young people, social workers, and other professionals.
  • Advocate on behalf of young people to ensure their voices are heard and their needs are met.
  • Support young people to access housing, training, education, employment, and health services.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with young people, empowering them to make informed decisions.
