Job description
ARE YOU A CONFIDENT AND EXPERIENCED PA LOOKING FOR A NEW CHALLENGE?
We are seeking a proactive and highly organized Personal Assistant (PA) to provide dedicated administrative and executive support to assistant directors within our Child and Family Well-Being Directorate.
This is a vital role where your efficiency, discretion, and professionalism will directly contribute to the delivery of life-changing support for children, young people, and families in our community.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
You will be an experienced and reliable PA or senior administrator, with experience in a fast-paced public sector, health, or social care setting. Ideally having previous experience and knowledge of the education sector/schools.
The ideal candidate will have excellent organisational and multitasking skills and be able to work in a confidential, diplomatic and self-motivated manner. You will also display a strong team working ethic and have high attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities. Experience working in a customer focussed environment and within children’s services is crucial, as well as the ability to liaise and communicate at all levels, for example with members, senior managers, partner organisations and members of the public. We are also looking for someone who can demonstrate knowledge of the issues facing local government and an awareness of working in a political environment.
NVQ level 3 or equivalent in an appropriate discipline is necessary, as is proven proficiency working with Microsoft Office software.
THE ROLE:
The successful candidate will be working within the Children and Family Wellbeing Directorate and responsible for a vast range of support, such as complex diary management and the organisation of meetings, dealing with correspondence on behalf of the Assistant Director/Director, and responding to enquiries. This requires handling sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
You will be required to have an extensive understanding of Cumberland Council and have the ability to adapt to our rapidly changing service demands. You will be required to liaise with internal teams, external agencies, and families professionally.
You will need to manage your own workload well to ensure deadlines are met and provide excellent customer service. Your duties will also cover undertaking individual projects as directed by the Director you are supporting.
We offer a guaranteed interview to the following applicants as long as your application can demonstrate you meet the essential criteria for the role.
