Responsibilities

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The Access Assistant will provide workplace support to a senior IT executive, enabling them to carry out their role effectively. The post-holder will assist with tasks requiring visual access and provide practical support in both remote and in-person work settings, including during travel in the UK and abroad.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

· Reading, note-taking, and transcription support – taking accurate minutes during meetings and producing accessible records.
· Document and presentation support – assisting with inaccessible documents, reviewing policies, and creating accessible versions of reports and training materials.
· PowerPoint and design support – producing professional-quality presentations and supporting the design of clear, visually engaging slides.
· Diagram support – creating and updating architecture and process diagrams, ensuring clarity and accuracy when conveying complex information.
· Scheduling and administrative support – managing diaries, coordinating meetings, and handling inaccessible digital content.
· Orientation and mobility support – providing sighted guiding in workplaces, at events, and during travel.
· Travel support – accompanying the client on occasional UK and international business trips to provide guiding, assistance with logistics, and administrative support.
· Other reasonable adjustments as may be required to enable the senior IT executive to perform their duties effectively.
Working Arrangements
Services will be performed at such times and places as mutually agreed. The role is primarily remote, with regular in-person meetings in Cleethorpes. Flexibility is required to accommodate meetings, deadlines, and occasional travel. Travel can be global and has historically included USA, UAE, China and Europe.
Person SpecificationEssential:
· Strong organisational and administrative skills.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Ability to take accurate notes and prepare clear, accessible documents.
· Competence with Microsoft Office applications, especially PowerPoint.
· Ability to support the creation and explanation of diagrams and visuals.
· Discretion and confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
· Willingness to travel in the UK and internationally, including occasional overnight stays.
· Ability to provide sighted guiding.
Desirable:
· Full driving licence and access to a vehicle (with business car insurance in place).
· Previous experience as a support worker, personal assistant, or similar role.
· Understanding of accessibility needs for blind and visually impaired people.
· Knowledge of assistive technologies such as screen readers and magnification software.
· Experience of using Lucid Charts for diagramming.
· Awareness of assistive technologies including JAWS, ZoomText, Dot Pad, Mantis Q40 Braille Display.
