Description

This position requires at least 3 years of prior banking experience. Pay is negotiable, based upon prior experience.
The Personal Banker is responsible for establishing, retaining, and deepening customer relationships by performing efficient and accurate banking transactions, opening/closing accounts, performing account maintenance, and consumer lending in support of BANKWEST’s goals and objectives. The Personal Banker will handle a wide range of tasks and can complete a wide variety of customer requests from beginning to end. The Personal Banker will embrace, promote, and encourage customers (and staff) to adopt the current banking technology (Internet Banking, Mobile Banking, Remote Deposit, bill pay, etc.) This position will work closely with the Service supervisor, the tellers, and other Personal Bankers. This position is multi-faceted and has a variety of duties. This position may be given the opportunity to work on other tasks (i.e. assisting the BSA officer with reporting or other tasks, new account / maintenance checkbacks, operational tasks, and/or other duties as assigned).
New Accounts
· Responsible to open and support new accounts (checking, savings, IRA, CD, overdraft protection, ATM or Debit Card, internet banking, safe deposit box, etc.)
· Responsible for ordering debit cards, checks, or other banking products.
· Responsible for account checkbacks and maintenance
· Responsible to know bank products and services
· Keep abreast of changes in products, policies and procedures, and attend training as needed
· Scan account documents into imaging system
· Perform other duties as assigned
Backup Teller:
· Accurately and efficiently process teller transactions for retail and commercial customers using jack Henry’s Teller Item Capture software
· Provide additional products and services to customers (check orders, cash advances)
· Accurately account for cash drawer and keep cash organized/faced
· Promptly disclose errors and offages and correct them as according to bank policy
· Maintain cash vault (supervise balancing, order currency and coin)
· Perform other duties as assigned at each branch (process mail, balance ATM and coin machine, complete check backs, file, research as requested)
· Open and close the bank as scheduled
· Perform other duties as assigned
Customer Service
· Assist customers with account questions and resolution of problems in a professional manner
· Provide excellent customer service to assure customer satisfaction
· Support general incoming bank phone calls
· Provide back up to and Tellers as needed
· Perform other duties as assigned
Sales and Referrals
· Participate in branch cross-selling and sales goals
· Refer customers to appropriate staff for additional financial products (loans)
· Quickly learn and retain solid understanding of all BANKWEST products and services
· Confidently make recommendations to customers regarding products and services
· Demonstrate understanding of sales concepts as related to financial services
· Participate in community-based volunteer opportunities as a representative of BANKWEST
· New Accounts / Sales / Referrals
Consumer Lending (Developing Skill)
· Work with and take direction from the Branch Manager and/or other Commercial Lenders
· Process consumer loan applications
· Collect and analyze credit reports and scores
· Gather Consumer Financial Data
· Establish payment plans
· Follow predefined lending policies
· Operate within lending limits
· Acquire approval on loans outside of lending limits
· Participate in loan meetings (as needed)
· Process funding transactions
· Discuss reasons for rejection with consumers
· Maintain Approval and Rejection records
· Stay abreast of policy and industry changes/regulations.
· Participate in consumer lending education and training
· Perform other duties as assigned
Required Professional Skills
· High School or equivalent diploma required
· Previous banking experience required
· Ability to clearly communicate thoughts verbally and in writing
· Professional appearance and attitude
· Excellent phone etiquette and people skills.
· Able to communicate thoughts clearly, both orally and written to both customers and staff.
