MiCare Avondrust Lodge is a state of the art facility which was purpose built with both Elders and Staff in mind, to ensure effective Person Centred Care.
It has small beautiful households of 12 Elders each, with excellent ratios of 1:6 or less which enables carers to achieve best outcomes for the Elders. Social and therapeutic alliances are formed as staff bond with Elders in their households. Staff and Elders get to know each other well. Elders share their wisdom. Staff become proud advocates of these dear members of the household, to continue giving outstanding care.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum Cert III (Aged Care)
• Cert IV (Aged Care) highly advantageous but not essential

SKILLS:

• The ability to work with frail and/or confused elders and their families within the Accreditation Standards and funding guidelines
• The ability to accept direction and to work in a team environment with minimal supervision
• The ability or willingness to speak/learn Dutch and an understanding of the Dutch culture and history
• The ability to work in a culturally sensitive manner within an ethno-specific environment
• Basic knowledge of the ageing process
• Demonstrated basic computer skills
• Recognise own abilities and level of competence
• To have a basic knowledge of Work Health and Safety procedures
• Experience with a Memory support unit/ Dementia Care/ High Care is preferred
