Job Summary

Personal Assistant (PA) for an Disabled Person

We are looking for a compassionate, reliable, and dedicated Personal Assistant (PA) to support an Asian disabled individual with daily living activities and promote their independence, dignity, and well-being.

The ideal candidate will understand the importance of culturally sensitive care and be able to provide support that respects the individual's cultural background, personal values, traditions, and lifestyle. An understanding of Asian cultural practices, family values, dietary preferences, and communication needs would be highly beneficial in building a trusting and comfortable working relationship.

This is a rewarding, paid opportunity for someone who is passionate about providing personalised support and helping an individual live as independently and comfortably as possible in their own home and community.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with personal care dressing, grooming, and mobility, while maintaining dignity, privacy, and respect.
  • Provide support with daily routines and activities in accordance with the individual's personalised care plan.
  • Respect the individual's cultural background, personal preferences, religious practices, and dietary requirements.
  • Offer companionship, emotional support, and encouragement to promote independence and well-being.
  • Assist with shopping, appointments, errands, and community activities, including driving where required.
  • Support the individual in maintaining their preferred lifestyle, routines, and social connections.
  • Communicate effectively with the individual, family members, and relevant healthcare professionals, respecting confidentiality at all times.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, comfortable, and respectful living environment.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • A compassionate, patient, respectful, and dependable approach to care.
  • A genuine commitment to supporting the independence, dignity, and choices of a disabled person.
  • An understanding of, or willingness to learn about, Asian cultural traditions and preferences.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and maintain professional boundaries.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Basic IT skills for record-keeping and communication.
  • Ability to follow personalised care plans and instructions accurately.
  • Previous experience in personal care, home care, or disability support is desirable.
  • A valid driving licence and reliable driving experience are desirable if driving is required for the role.

Who We Are Looking For

We particularly welcome applicants who can offer relevant cultural understanding and help the individual feel comfortable, respected, and understood. Depending on the individual's needs, familiarity with Asian languages, customs, food, or religious practices may be advantageous.

The successful candidate will be someone who values person-centred care and recognises that every individual has their own preferences, needs, and identity.

If you are caring, trustworthy, and passionate about making a positive difference in someone's daily life, we would love to hear from you.

Pay: £12.71 per hour
