We are seeking compassionate Personal Care Assistants to care for our residents at Mercy Place Colac, our 107 bed residential aged care facility in Colac.

ABOUT YOU:

  • Certificate III or IV in Aged Care or Individual Support
  • Students seeking placements or traineeships welcome to apply
  • Previous experience in Aged Care is desirable
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to work effectively within a team environment
  • Previous experience in cooking or in a hospitality environment

Responsibilities:

  • Perm & casual roles available
  • Provide assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting for elderly residents.
  • Assist residents with mobility issues, including transferring from beds to chairs, walking, or using mobility aids.
  • Monitor and report changes in residents’ health or behavior to nursing staff or supervisors.
  • Engage residents in social activities, conversation, and recreational activities to promote mental stimulation and social interaction.
  • Provide emotional support and companionship to residents, fostering a caring and compassionate atmosphere.
  • Follow established care plans and protocols to ensure residents receive consistent and quality care.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, family members, and external service providers to meet the holistic needs of residents.
  • Attend training sessions and continuing education programs to enhance knowledge and skills in aged care practices.
  • Uphold principles of dignity, respect, and autonomy in all interactions with residents, treating them with empathy and understanding.
  • Pay rates range from $31.2705 - $32.59 (pay rates will be dependent on experience post qualification)
