Job description: Listed below are details of the purpose and general tasks of the job. It

Job Purpose: A Social Care opportunity has become available as a Personal Assistant
for a young boy aged 9. You will assist with everyday tasks and enable him to take part in
activities that he enjoys.
Location: Costessey, NR5.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience working or volunteering with children in a care, education or support role
  • Awareness of autism spectrum disorder and how it impacts daily life.
  • Experience using structure and routine to support children
  • Ability to recognise and respond to signs of distress or sensory overload
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Training in positive Behaviour support or de-escalation techniques

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous work or volunteering experience with children with additional needs
  • Experience in an autism-specific environment
  • Minimum High school diploma/ equivalent
  • Safeguarding children training
  • Paediatric first aid & CPR certificate

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • NVQ/QCF level 2 or 3 in health and social care, childcare or equivalent
  • PECs, Makaton or other communication method training

SUMMARY TERMS AND CONDITIONS:

  • The rate of pay for this position is £12.38 per hour
  • Hours and times of work: up to 3 hours per week, flexible over the weekends.
    Other duties will be discussed if/when deemed appropriate but everything that will be

expected will be explained prior to acceptance of the position.

  • The annual holiday entitlement for this position will be equivalent to the work I would

normally expect to be done during 5.6 consecutive weeks.

  • Access to free training for employed workers.
  • If this job requires; Manual Handling, Handling of hazardous chemicals and/or Food

Handling you will be required undertake annual training.
