Job Purpose: A friendly and dependable Personal Assistant is required to assist with daily living activities for a lady with dementia in Bishopgate, Norwich. The role involves supporting with:

• Meal preparation: Cooking meals
• Personal care: Showering and hair washing
• Light Housekeeping: Keeping the home tidy, making bed, washing up.
• Companionship: Engaging in lots of conversation. The lady is a politically active person and enjoys discussions around current affairs. She converted to Islam in the 1960s and still practices despite her dementia.
• Going out in the local community

Location: Norwich, NR1

Personal Specification: Listed below are the skills, competencies and qualities that are required for the post. Assessment of these, both on application and at the interview, will be the main factor in determining your success.

• Good communicator: Enjoys having a discussion about the world, and who can relate to them and show an interest in the life experiences.
• Experience: Some training and or experienced in providing personal care, and caring for someone with dementia. Additional training can be provided.

SUMMARY TERMS AND CONDITIONS:

• The rate of pay for this position is £14.94 per hour on a self-employed basis.
• Hours and times of work as follows: Varied hours, up to 24hrs a week. Availability over weekends is essential. Shifts are generally 6 hours, 2-4 times a week. Times can be negotiated depending on current needs. Times and days to be discussed in greater detail at interview stage.
• The annual holiday entitlement for this position will be equivalent to the work I would normally expect to be done during 5.6 consecutive weeks.
• If this job requires; Manual Handling, Handling of hazardous chemicals and/or Food Handling you will be required undertake annual training.
