SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

To be considered for this role, we would require you to demonstrate the following:

  • Minimum AQF Certificate III or higher qualification or equivalent in Aged Care, Disability or Individual Care (minimum course duration 6 months) or 2 years or work experience to substitute for the formal qualification. You must also provide evidence of at least 120 hours practical experience within the training you completed.
  • At least one year of relevant work experience (post qualification) undertaken in the last 3 years.
  • Demonstrated experience in assisting with the activities of daily living in an Aged Care setting.
  • Demonstrated effective and clear communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to manage and work within a culturally diverse team environment.
  • An ability to undertake a range of manual handling functions relevant to the role.
  • Proof of or willing to obtain the following mandatory requirements:
  • NDIS Workers Screening
  • National Police Check (dated within 3 months)
  • Current year Flu Vaccination
  • Food Handlers Certificate to the 3.2.2A standard.
Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

ARRCS are currently sourcing an experienced and qualified Personal Care Worker to support the clinical care of our residents and home care consumers within our Aged Care Facility Tjilpiku Pampaku Ngura located in South Australia’s APY Lands within the community of Pukatja and to support clinical care needs of our home care consumers within the surrounding communities of Pipalyatjara, Mimili, Kaltjiti, Iwantja and Amata.
This role is being offered on a permanent, full-time basis working 38 hours per week and at a salary of $36.59 - $38.19 / hour gross base (annual salary of $72,292 - $75,472) dependent on previous experience.
This role is suited to people who have care and compassion and enjoy interacting with our residents within our facilities. You will bring previous experience in an aged care or disability support role and will have the skills and experience to complete work with respect and professionalism whilst having supervision from our facilities senior nursing staff when required. You will provide a strong work ethic whilst being able to ensure that the care and wellbeing of our residents and consumers are kept to the highest standards.

The role will require you to assist the person with activities of daily living and where safe to do so encourage independence with:

  • Showering and toileting as required.
  • Dressing and undressing as required.
  • Transfers and general mobility within and outside the health service as required.
  • Sensory communication needs.
  • Daily exercise program.
  • Provision of ongoing long-term support to residents suffering from irreversible dementia or psychiatric conditions as diagnosed by a medical professional
  • Assist with preparation and distribution of meals.
  • Liaise with Leisure and Lifestyle coordinator to support and encourage participation in independent and/or organized activities.
  • Assist with washing of resident’s personal laundry.
  • Ensure individual care plans are followed for all residents/patients/clients
