PERSONAL CAREGIVER & MOTHER’S HELPER – PART-TIME (SW CALGARY, PATTERSON HEIGHTS)

We are looking for a caring and reliable Personal Caregiver & Mother’s Helper to support our family in our fully accessible home in SW Calgary (Patterson Heights SW). This is a regular, permanent part-time position starting in September.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education or background in Disability Studies, Occupational/Physical/Speech Therapy, Kinesiology, Education, Health Care Aide, Medicine, or Nursing preferred
  • Experience with children or adults with special needs is an asset
  • Mature, dependable individuals with a strong work ethic
  • Must be a non-smoker/non-vaper
  • Must be fluent in English
  • Must have reliable personal transportation required, as the location is not easily accessible by public transit

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 2 to 3 professional References
  • Current Police check
  • Current First Aid training
    Job Types: Part-time, Permanent
    Pay: $22.00-$25.00 per hour
    Expected hours: 15 per week

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE:

Our charming 8-year-old son with Cerebral Palsy (wheelchair user) and non-verbal requires assistance with morning routines. You’ll provide personal care and help him start his day, while also supporting our household.

  • Approximately half of each shift will be dedicated to daily housekeeping tasks.
  • We also have a younger child who will occasionally need light supervision and care.
  • One parent will always be Working From Home during your shift.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Morning personal care: dressing, assisted oral feeding, and hygiene
  • Safe use of our in-home lift system for transfers (65 lbs) to and from wheelchair
  • Assist in preparing school bag and packed lunch
  • Ensuring our son is picked up safely by accessible school bus
  • Household duties: daily housekeeping and cleaning tasks
  • Light supervision of second child when needed
