Description

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

 Graduate of Personal Support Worker program preferred
 Experience working with seniors in LTC or Retirement Home
 Must possess strong written and oral communication skills
 Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
 Strong interpersonal and customer focus skills
 Must have demonstrated sound skills and knowledge of providing
personal care duties
 Current CPR and First Aid certification
 Must provide a complete and current (within six months) Vulnerable
Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to
obtain one
 Must be able to provide a negative TB result (current within 1 year of
test)
 Fully vaccinated – Covid-19

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND SKILLS:

 Adhere to the plan of care as determined by the Director of Health &
Wellness
 assist the resident with personal care and hygiene and activities of
daily living
 To observe and report on changes in residents’ condition to Health &
Wellness Manager
 To escalate medical emergencies to the Registered Practical Nurse
/Health & Wellness Manager or emergency medical services as
appropriate
 To assist with ambulation, mobilization, transferring and adaptive
aids
 To demonstrate understanding of the residents needs and maximize
abilities
 To provide cognitive, social, emotional, and psychological support to
the resident/family
 To maintain resident information confidentiality
 To respond to resident/family concerns and ensure appropriate action
taken within decision making authority and or concern communicated
to the Health & Wellness Manager
 To assist in maintaining a safe and cleanly environment, including
residents’ equipment, belongings, and nursing equipment
 To observe & report to the Registered Practical Nurse/ Health &
Wellness Manager any concerns regarding the resident’s safety
including physical environment, implement interventions as directed
by the Registered Practical Nurse/ Health & Wellness Manager &
advocate on the residents behalf to ensure resident safety is
maintained
 To engage with other agencies involved in resident care as directed
 To attend in services to develop knowledge and skills
 To work in a position of trust with vulnerable adults
 To complete other duties as assigned
 To be aware of the Resident Rights & Responsibilities and endeavor to
respect and promote it
 Collaborate with other departments
 Adhere to established policies and procedures of the Retirement
Home, RHRA, and Public Health
