We are looking to hire a full-time Personal Support Worker for a 1-month contract position with possible extension at Atikokan General Hospital located in Atikokan, Ontario. Atikokan General Hospital is a fully accredited 41-bed facility. They offer emergency, acute care, long-term care, and a range of outpatient services. The PSW will be working in the extended long-term care wing. The details are as follows.
Pay: $35-45/hour
Starting: ASAP
Hours: 8-hour shifts (days 07:15-15:15, and 15:15-23:15)
Duration: 3 months with possible extension
Work Location: In-person
Benefits: Paid accommodations. Paid flight and taxi at the beginning and end of contract.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Valid Personal Support Worker certificate from a recognized institution
• Experience in long-term care or similar setting an asset
• Must have a valid driver’s license and operating vehicle
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• TB two step test within a year
• Vulnerable sector search within a year
• COVID vaccination proof (3 in total)
• N95 mask fit test results
• Valid First Aid and CPR certificate
• Evidence of immunity measles
• Evidence of immunity mumps
• Evidence of immunity Rubella
• Evidence of immunity Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis
• Evidence of immunity Polio
• Evidence of immunity Varicella
• Evidence of immunity Hepatitis B

• Delivers high quality personal support work in a long-term care setting
• Provides autonomous care for clients with stable and/or less complex conditions
• Provide assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting
• Support residents with mobility and transfers, using appropriate techniques and equipment in a safe manner
• Assist residents with meals, feeding, and hydration
• Monitor and report changes in the residents’ condition to the Registered Practical Nurses (RPN) and Registered Nurses (RN)
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care provided
• Adhere to infection control and safety standards
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with the healthcare team to improve the quality of life for residents
