QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid Personal Support Worker Certificate from an approved program
  • Gentle Persuasive Approach (GPA) certification considered an asset
  • Previous experience in long-term care, retirement, or similar healthcare setting preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff
  • Physically able to meet the demands of the role, including lifting and prolonged standing
  • Flexible and dependable with the ability to work varied shifts, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Compliant with all AON immunization and infection prevention policies
Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE:

As a Personal Support Worker, you’ll provide hands-on personal care and assistance to residents in their activities of daily living (ADLs), always with dignity, empathy, and respect. You will work closely with Registered Staff and other team members to ensure the holistic well-being of each resident.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist residents with personal care routines such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility
  • Support residents during mealtimes, including feeding assistance and encouragement of proper nutrition and hydration
  • Promote and encourage resident independence and engagement in daily activities
  • Provide companionship and emotional support
  • Observe and report changes in residents’ conditions to nursing staff promptly
  • Follow individualized care plans and participate in care conferences as required
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with policies and regulations
  • Assist in transferring, positioning, and lifting residents using proper techniques and equipment
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of resident areas
  • Participate in infection prevention and control, fire safety, and health & safety procedures
