JOB OVERVIEW

As a Personal Support Worker (PSW), you will provide essential care and support to clients in their homes or within a care facility. Your role involves assisting with daily living activities, ensuring the physical and emotional well-being of clients, and promoting independence and dignity.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist clients with personal hygiene, including bathing, grooming, and dressing.
• Provide mobility support, including transfers, lifts, and repositioning.
• Assist with feeding and meal preparation according to dietary needs and preferences.
• Perform light housekeeping tasks, including laundry and cleaning.
• Assist with medications as prescribed and directed by a healthcare professional.
• Support clients with cognitive impairments, providing companionship and mental stimulation.
• Assist with exercises and physical therapy routines as instructed by healthcare professionals.
• Provide emotional support and companionship, fostering a positive and caring environment.
• Ensure client safety and comfort at all times.
• Communicate effectively with clients, families, and healthcare team members.
• Document care provided and maintain accurate client records.

Qualifications:

• Completion of a recognized Personal Support Worker (PSW) program or equivalent.
• Certification in First Aid and CPR.
• Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and transferring clients.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Compassionate, patient, and empathetic demeanor.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Working Conditions:

• May involve working evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Exposure to various home environments and long-term care settings.
• Physical demands include lifting, bending, and prolonged periods of standing.
