Position Overview: As a PSW, you will provide companionship, emotional support, and social interaction to our clients (older adults). Your primary objective is to enhance the quality of life for your clients by engaging in meaningful conversations, participating in recreational activities, and offering a friendly presence. You will form close relationships with the individuals you assist, offering them emotional reassurance and fostering a sense of connection and belonging. Help with daily tasks will be required.

Companionship: Establish a warm and empathetic relationship with clients, ensuring they feel comfortable and valued in your presence. Engage in friendly conversation, actively listen to their stories and experiences, and provide emotional support during times of loneliness or distress.
Social Engagement: Plan and participate in activities that align with the interests and preferences of your clients. These may include going for walks, playing games, watching movies, reading books, visiting local attractions, or engaging in hobbies they enjoy.
Assistance with Daily Living: While the primary role is companionship, you may assist clients with non-medical tasks, such as light meal preparation, accompanying them to meals in a care facility, providing reminders for medication, help transferring, etc.
Observation and Reporting: Keep track of your clients’ well-being and any changes in their behaviour or health. Report any concerns or significant observations to the appropriate family members or supervisors.
Respect for Independence: Encourage and support your clients in maintaining their independence to the best of their abilities. Assist only when needed, allowing them to retain control over their lives and decision-making.
Safety and Comfort: Ensure the safety and comfort of your clients during your interactions. Be mindful of any hazards or potential risks in their living environment and take appropriate actions to address them.
Communication with Family and Caregivers: Maintain open and transparent communication with family members or primary caregivers, providing updates on your clients’ well-being and any notable events during your visits.
Professionalism and Boundaries: Respect professional boundaries and confidentiality, understanding the importance of maintaining a respectful and ethical relationship with your clients.
