JOB SUMMARY
We are looking for (1-2 part-time) Personal Support Workers to serve clients in their homes in Cobourg and Durham region area. Able to be available to work Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and every other weekend. Our PSWs take care of our clients’ personal care, companionship, and housekeeping needs helping them live their best lives at home.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
· Have the ability to treat seniors with dignity and respect
· Can communicate in a friendly, compassionate manner with clients and office staff
· Gentle Persuasive Approach (GPA), Alzheimer’s and Dementia Training is an asset
· Possess a valid driver’s license and valid insurance with a reliable vehicle
· Have availability to take care of clients during weekdays and every other weekend
· Have a valid PSW certificate
· Experience managing the care of clients with dementia
· Background or Criminal Record Check with a Vulnerable Sector Search
· CPR and first Aid training
· Negative TB Test completed within the last year
· Vaccines (COVID-19 and others) are a requirement of the job unless you have an exemption on a medical ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code.

· Build meaningful relationships with clients in their home
· Review the care plans designed by the case manager prior to beginning a visit, completing records accurately and carrying out all assignments as requested
· Utilize applications via phone and email to ensure proper communication and legal documentation can be completed for client’s care
· Engage in open communication with your Case manager when opportunities to elevate your client’s experience and care are identified
· Meet safety standards, using equipment safely and accurately
· Function within the limits of own experience and knowledge, and practices safely and competently within the job description
· Complete Light housekeeping tasks and meal preparation including meals and snacks
· Run errands and accompany our clients to their appointments via community transportation services
· Offer Medication and appointment reminders
· Assist with bathing, grooming, toileting, changing and incontinence care
