JOB SUMMARY

Our Personal Support Workers (PSW’s) report to the Client Services Coordinator and are expected to deliver a high standard of care that allows our clients and patients to remain safe and comfortable in their own home environment. The services provided will be detailed in the personalized care plan. Compass Homecare is currently recruiting for Personal Support Workers (PSW’s) in Maple who have experience with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS)

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Able to proficiently communicate in English (verbal and written)
  • ALS experience is strongly recommended
  • Ability to speak other languages is considered an asset,
  • Must have a reliable mode of transportation
  • Personal Support Worker Certificate or equivalent (RPN, RN, foreign-trained healthcare professional)
  • Previous experience working as a PSW is an asset
  • Access to internet/mobile phone
  • Negative TB skin test or chest x-ray
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certificate
  • Vulnerable Sector Screen
Responsibilities
  • Assist clients and patients with personal care, activities of daily living, meal preparation, light housekeeping and light laundry.
  • Accompany clients on outings, appointments, shopping, errands where applicable.
  • Provide companionship to clients and patients
  • Respite for families
  • Daily documentation and charting in electronic chart
