JOB SUMMARY

Our Personal Support Workers (PSW’s) report to the Client Services Coordinator and are expected to deliver a high standard of care that allows our clients and patients to remain safe and comfortable in their own home environment. The services provided will be detailed in the personalized care plan. Compass Homecare is currently recruiting for Personal Support Workers (PSW’s) for the Greater Toronto Area

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Able to proficiently communicate in English (verbal and written)
  • Ability to speak other languages is considered an asset
  • Ability to travel to and from clients by transit or by car
  • Personal Support Worker Certificate from a recognized Ontario program or equivalent (RPN, RN, foreign-trained healthcare professional)
  • Previous experience working as a PSW is an asset
  • Access to internet/mobile phone
  • Negative TB skin test or chest x-ray (within 6 months)
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certificate
  • Vulnerable Sector Screen (within 12 months)
  • Vaccines: Covid 19, MMR, Tdap, Polio, Varicella, Hepatitis B
Responsibilities
  • Assist clients and patients with personal care (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, mobility support), activities of daily living, meal preparation, medication reminders, light housekeeping and light laundry.
  • Accompany clients on outings, appointments, shopping, errands where applicable.
  • Provide companionship to clients and patients
  • Respite for families
  • Daily documentation and charting in electronic chart on changes in clients’ health or environment
  • Foster a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all clients
  • Communicate effectively with clients, families, and healthcare teams
