Description Westminster, MD $19.68/hour | Flexible Evening Schedule, some daytime hours available (Thursday and Saturday) The Arc Carroll County is hiring compassionate and dependable Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to provide one-on-one personal supports to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Schedule: Part-time evenings Choose 2–4 nights per week 3:00 PM start time (required) End time flexible: 7:00 PM or 8:00 PM Various daytime hours available What You’ll Do: Provide one-on-one community-based or in-home support Provide transportation and support community access Create and implement innovative, fun, and meaningful activities tailored to each individual’s interests, goals, and abilities Support individuals individually and independently, encouraging choice, creativity, and self-direction through social, recreational, and educational activities Encourage independence and decision-making Assist with personal care and mobility as needed Document services and progress in iCare Follow person-centered plans, policies, and state regulations Pay & Benefits: $19.68/hour (Maryland Equal Pay compliant) Paid Sick Time 403(b) retirement plan (eligible upon hire) Employee Assistance & Wellness Programs Credit Union membership No experience required – paid training provided! DSP certification program with potential bonuses of $1,000–$1,500 in your first year and annually thereafter Requirements 18+ years old High school diploma or GED Valid U.S. driver’s license with 2+ years driving experience Ability to pass background, drug, and driving record checks Basic computer and keyboarding skills Ability to complete required training courses, including CPR, First Aid, Med Tech Certification, and other DDA-mandated training Ability to lift and manipulate up to 50 lbs frequently and assist with transfers Ability to stand for extended periods and perform frequent bending, stooping, reaching, pulling, and pushing Ability to assist with wheelchair handling, transfers, and securing individuals safely in vehicles
Responsibilities
Provide one-on-one personal support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in home and community settings. Responsibilities include assisting with personal care, transportation, and implementing meaningful activities to encourage independence.
