Description The National Fire Sprinkler Association (NFSA) is the leading voice for the fire sprinkler industry—advocating for fire safety, supporting our members, and advancing training and innovation nationwide. The Personnel & Leadership Development Manager leads NFSA’s people operations and workplace practices, ensuring employees are supported throughout the full employment lifecycle. This position blends strategic leadership with hands-on execution across recruiting, compensation, benefits, compliance, performance management, and employee development. This role plays a central part in supporting our people, strengthening leadership capacity, and ensuring an engaging, compliant, and high-performing workplace. Requirements Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning Lead full-cycle hiring efforts, including role design, postings, candidate screening, interviews, and selection Partner with managers to anticipate staffing needs and support long-term workforce planning Coordinate onboarding and orientation for new team members Systems & Data Management Administer and maintain the employee information system (Paylocity), ensuring data accuracy and confidentiality Produce workforce reports and insights for leadership Coordinate with vendors to resolve system issues and enhancements Total Rewards & Benefits Oversee benefit programs including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, retirement, and supplemental offerings Serve as the primary point of contact for employees and benefits partners Manage open enrollment, communications, and regulatory requirements Leave Administration & Compliance Oversee leave programs including FMLA, disability, PTO, and statutory leave Ensure accurate tracking, documentation, and employee communication Maintain compliance with employment-related laws across multiple states Compensation & Pay Strategy Administer salary structures, adjustments, and periodic review cycles Conduct internal equity reviews and support market benchmarking Assist leadership with compensation planning and budgeting Safety & Workplace Training Develop and communicate workplace safety programs and procedures Coordinate safety training and maintain certifications and records Ensure compliance with OSHA and applicable workplace standards Performance & Leadership Development Manage performance review processes and timelines Coach managers on goal setting, feedback, and documentation Identify opportunities for training, development, and leadership growth Employee Relations & Transitions Serve as a trusted advisor to managers and employees on workplace concerns Conduct investigations and provide policy guidance Manage offboarding, separations, exit interviews, and final documentation QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent work experience) required. 5+ years of HR generalist or HR management experience, preferably in an association, nonprofit, or small to mid-sized organization with employees in multiple states. Professional certification (SHRM-CP, PHR) preferred. Skills & Competencies Strong knowledge of employment law, compensation and benefits administration, performance systems, and workplace compliance Proficiency with Paylocity or similar employee management platforms and Microsoft Office Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills High level of discretion and sound judgment Ability to build trust and influence across all levels of the organization Why Join NFSA?
