Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

A key role reporting to the Integrated Development Lead is responsible for providing petroleum engineering expertise to optimise future development plans while supporting current operations and development for Asset West. The role is critical in maximizing the value of the asset through effective reservoir management, field appraisal, and production optimisation strategies.

  • Identify and assess reservoir development opportunities, depletion strategies, and optimisation initiatives to maximise recovery and asset value.
  • Work within a multidisciplinary team to assess development opportunities, including new wells and infrastructure solutions.
  • Provide petroleum engineering expertise for coal seam gas assets serving as a mentor to engineers and geoscientists.
  • Collaborate with geoscientists, reservoir and surface engineers to develop yearly appraisal and development drilling programs.
  • Create and maintain field development plans and strategies, including production forecasting to guide investment decisions.
  • Develop and maintain reservoir simulation models incorporating subsurface data to support field surveillance and development planning.
  • Conduct post-well studies and integrate new data into existing models.
  • Evaluate well performance, pressure data, and production trends to identify opportunities for optimisation.
  • Conduct economic evaluations of development scenarios, integrating subsurface uncertainties with commercial considerations.
  • Generate reserves forecasts, classification, and documentation for assigned fields.
  • Present development projects for peer reviews, internal management approvals, and join venture approvals.

  • 4 - 10+ years’ experience in petroleum engineering within the oil and gas industry
  • Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering or a related field
  • Expertise in coal seam gas (CSG) petroleum engineering
  • Strong background in production forecasting, analytics, well testing, and reserves estimatio
