JOB SUMMARY

As a Petroleum Inspector cum Surveyor, you will be responsible for conducting quantitative inspections and quality sampling of marine fuels and petroleum products on board ships, barges, and shore tanks. Initially, you will perform supervised gauging, sampling, and inspection tasks, progressing to independent field operations upon demonstrating competency.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum education: High School Diploma or equivalent; Diploma in Nautical Science, Marine Engineering, or relevant technical field preferred.
  • Experience as a Marine Engineer, Deck Officer, or in petroleum/marine surveying is advantageous.
  • Strong numeracy skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent communication skills, fluent in English (verbal and written).
  • Must hold or be eligible to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card.
  • Own reliable transportation and valid driver’s license with insurance and vehicle registration.
  • Willingness to learn, stable, committed, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to meet client- and site-specific requirements for access to facilities.
  • Ability to work under physically demanding conditions including lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing stairs/ladders, and performing tasks involving close and peripheral vision.

Responsibilities
  • Perform bunker quantity surveys (BQS) and petroleum inspections in accordance with local standards, company procedures, and client specifications.
  • Conduct onsite measurements, gauging, and temperature assessments of marine fuels and shore tanks using calibrated equipment and approved methodologies.
  • Collect, label, and transport fuel and petroleum samples promptly to laboratories for analysis.
  • Maintain and ensure the calibration and proper functioning of inspection equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) before and during inspections.
  • Communicate effectively and maintain regular contact with the Operations Department, shipping agents, vessel and terminal personnel to coordinate inspection schedules and logistics.
  • Prepare and dispatch timely, accurate survey reports and document all field measurements and calculations as per company and client standards.
  • Uphold safety, quality, and audit compliance by reviewing quality audit matters, implementing corrective actions, and following all relevant policies and ASTM/API guidelines.
  • Operate under supervision initially, transitioning to independent inspection duties as proficiency is demonstrated.
  • Represent the company professionally and uphold a dignified demeanor as the company’s trusted field representative.
  • Participate in special projects and assignments as directed by the Operations Executive or Manager.
  • Work flexible hours, including weekends and outside regular office hours, as required by operational demands.
