Description
The Opportunity Abt seeks a PFAS / Environmental Sampling Specialist to support environmental site investigations and sampling activities at federal facilities. This consultancy is for an upcoming project in the Office of Enforcement and Compliance Assurance. The Environmental Sampling Specialist will support PFAS assessment and site investigation activities, including sampling at private wells and other locations near federal facilities. Responsibilities will include field sampling preparation, chain-of-custody documentation, coordination with laboratories, and preparation of technical documentation supporting environmental investigations. Depending on interests and abilities, this consultancy may also support environmental inspections, environmental data analysis, and technical reporting for the Environmental Protection Agency and other federal agencies. This consultancy is contingent upon award of a new EPA contract.  Core Responsibilities * Conduct environmental sampling activities, including PFAS sampling at private wells and other environmental media surrounding federal facilities. * Assist with planning sampling events, including identifying sampling locations, reviewing facility information, and supporting development of sampling plans. * Support preparation and implementation of Quality Assurance Project Plans (QAPPs) and other sampling documentation. * Collect environmental samples following EPA quality assurance and chain-of-custody procedures. * Coordinate with EPA or third-party laboratories for sample bottles, shipping, and analytical requirements. * Document sampling events through field notes, photographs, and technical summaries. * Compile and organize environmental data and sampling results for reporting and analysis. * Prepare technical deliverables including sampling reports, data summaries, and supporting documentation. * Collaborate with Abt technical teams and EPA staff to support environmental investigations and compliance activities. * Support additional environmental investigation or inspection activities as needed. What We Value * Experience conducting environmental field sampling or environmental site investigations. * Experience with groundwater, drinking water, soil, or environmental contaminant sampling. * Experience with PFAS sampling methods and field protocols preferred. * Familiarity with EPA QA/QC procedures and Quality Assurance Project Plans (QAPPs). * Experience maintaining chain-of-custody documentation and field sampling records. * Experience coordinating with environmental laboratories for sample analysis. * Background in environmental science, environmental engineering, chemistry, hydrology, geology, or related technical disciplines. * Strong technical writing and documentation skills. * Familiarity with environmental regulations such as Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA), Clean Water Act (CWA), or CERCLA preferred. * 40-hour HAZWOPER certification preferred. * Ability to carry 25 pounds, work outdoors in field conditions, and travel to sampling locations as required. * Ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively in a deadline-driven consulting environment. #LI-Remote
