Overview This position is responsible for learning and understanding the necessary skills and practices required to function as a pharmacy technician to successfully obtain registration as a pharmacy technician with the Florida Board of Pharmacy. At the completion of the instructional period, the incumbent will be required to pass a competency test, obtain registration as a pharmacy technician from the Florida Board of Pharmacy, and demonstrate baseline skills required for promotion to a Pharmacy Technician Level 1 position. Qualifications Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: 1. High School Diploma or equivalent required. 2. Must know how to operate calculator, telecommunication equipment, and computer workstation. 3. Ability to lift 30+ lbs. Job Knowledge: Required Skills: 1. Effective written and verbal communication skills 2. Basic algebra knowledge. Competency is assessed by validated math test administered in HR. A minimum score of 80% is required to pass. Allowed one retake if initial score at least 60%. Preferred Skills: 3. One year (24 credit hours) of college level study, including successful completion of algebra 4. At least three years of prior UF Health Shands employment for internal candidates 5. Prior experience with customer service Licensure/Certification/Registration: None Motor Vehicle Operator Designation: Employees in this position will not operate vehicles for an assigned business purpose NOTE: A frequent driver is defined as one who uses his/her personal or Shands automobile a) at least once daily, b) at least five individual trips per week or c) drives, on average, over 150 miles per week in the performance of his/her job. Additional Requirement: 'As a condition of employment within the Pharmacy Services Department of Shands Hospital all employees must be accessible by telephone. This requires each employee to provide a valid telephone number to the department Staff Assistant, in order for the department to reach them in the event of hospital need and/or emergency'.
Responsibilities
