Description

This post has been newly created to support Welsh Government and NHS Wales achieve key objectives for managing medicines efficiently and resourcefully across Wales. These objectives include the participation and supervision of the manufacture of prepared medicinal products, ensuring that the TMU, Radio Pharmacy and the operations meet good manufacturing practice (GMP) and good clinical practise (GCP), Health and Safety, Ionising Radiation and other statutory requirements
The post holder’s role will include the supervision of clean room activities, within both the TMU and Radio Pharmacy, including clean room behaviour, aseptic techniques and the use of semi-automated equipment. They will need to have a good attention for detail and be methodical and accurate, to be able to perform post-production product inspection including the reconciliation process and to participate in the Pharmaceutical Quality Control System.
There will be a need to take responsibility for maintaining effective stock control using the pharmacy computer systems.
You must possess excellent communication and organisational skills in order to provide an efficient and safe pharmacy service for patients and the running of the service in a busy environment.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post: English and / or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
The Post holder will supervise on a day-today basis, in the TMU and Radio Pharmacy, all the duties carried out by the senior production operators and production operators in the assembly and manufacture of medicinal products working, within the requirements of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Good Distribution Practices (GDP).
The post holder will be supported by a team of pharmacy production operators and will have supervisory and line management responsibilities for the teams covering the TMU and Radio Pharmacy Department.
The role involves using various IT systems including Episys for generating manufacturing documents, the Pharmacy and Oracle procurement system as well as quality management systems (QMS) to demonstrate regulatory and financial compliance.
Pre-and in-process accuracy checking activities will be undertaken by the post holder to ensure the prepared medicinal products are safe and effective for patient use.
