Shift Overviews: * 2nd Shift follows a hybrid workflow with the first half of the shift mirroring retail pharmacy and the second half of the shift as a closed-door mail order facility. Responsibilities: 1. 2nd Shift Pharmacists: * Communicate expectations during start of shift huddle in the absence of a Lead Technician. * Serve as a resource to technicians in both problem solving and assignment of roles. * Pre-check prescriptions before fill to ensure accuracy and appropriateness (PV1). * Check of filled prescriptions according to legal and professional standards (PV2). * Provide clear instructions to patients regarding medication use, dosage, and potential side effects. * Train/mentor new members that join the team and provide regular feedback on performance and expectations. * Guide staff at end of shift in preparing the facility for shift change to ensure the incoming shift’s team members start their day with a tidy and well-stocked workspace. 2. Administrative Tasks: * Maintain accurate records of dispensed medications and patient profiles. * Manage pharmacy inventory, ensuring medications are stored properly and securely. * Comply with regulatory requirements and pharmacy policies. * Ensure patient confidentiality and privacy in accordance with healthcare laws. 3. Research and Professional Development: * Stay informed about new drugs, treatments, and medical research. * Engage in continuing education to maintain licensure and expand clinical knowledge. * Mentor pharmacy students or residents. Skills and Qualifications: * Education: Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an accredited pharmacy school. * Years of Experience: Minimum 1-3 years’ experience as a Staff Pharmacist * Licensure: Active pharmacy license in Kentucky in good standing * Core competencies include: * Strong knowledge of pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacotherapy. * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. * Attention to detail and accuracy in medication dispensing and patient counseling. * Ability to work independently and as part of a healthcare team. * Problem-solving skills to address medication-related issues. * Proficiency in pharmacy software and electronic health records (EHR). * Commitment to ethical standards and patient safety. Physical Requirements (with or without accommodation): * Ability to stand for extended periods. * Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds. * Ability to see, read and interpret hand-written and faxed materials * Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
