At NorthBay Health, the Clinical Information Technology Pharmacist works under the supervision of the Assistant Vice President, Pharmacy, with a primary responsibility to manage medication related information for NorthBay Health computerized EHR system. The position is responsible for medication knowledge management, decision support, for monitoring both core & department local systems for data quality, efficiency and operation and data integrity. This position analyzes strategies to maximize the safety of the medication use process using leadership skills to effect improvement. The person must be committed to providing exceptional customer service and responding to user needs in a prompt, courteous manner with a positive attitude. The position will be expected to work cooperatively with Pharmacy Staff, Information Technology Applications, Clinical Informatics, Enterprise Information Management, Network Infrastructure and Operations, and Medical Staff members to plan, develop, test, train, implement, manage and maintain pharmacy-related software products. This position is also expected to work cooperatively with Revenue Cycle and Finance to build and troubleshoot to directly support strategic financial goals and regulatory requirements requiring pharmacy-specific knowledge and processes. This position will be expected to maintain competency in the practice of all inpatient areas of the Pharmacy, in the event of extraordinary or emergency staffing needs. Primary Job Duties Maintains the technical and clinical integrity (clinical decision support) of the Pharmacy system to ensure user’s and management’s needs are met in the most efficient manner possible. Includes building or reviewing master files, updating the formulary and applications, takes the lead in specialized reports. The primary representative to physician committees related to Computerized Pharmacy Order Entry (CPOE) for planning, design, building, and, support of all medication process activities, such as: eMAR, order sentences, order folders, order entry formats, order sets and clinical decision support (rules &/or alert). This position is a member of the Pharmacy Leadership Team and other hospital committees related to supporting electronic medication information and systems. Supports the Pharmacy staff in the day to day operations of installed applications. This includes coordinating efforts with vendors, IS staff and Pharmacy staff. Recommends and documents enhancements needed to improve the functionality of the applications to the Pharmacy Leadership Team. Responsible for the education and ongoing training needs of the Pharmacy staff as it relates to the Pharmacy computer system and any associated application software program. This includes leading forums for problem resolutions, formal training and assessing user competency skills. Supports and acts as liaison to other departments interfacing with the clinical pharmacy computer system; IS, Nursing, Medical staff, etc. Pharmacist staffing including clinical activities, distributive functions, reporting and monitoring.
