JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Acts as a liaison with nursing and medical staff concerning prescriptions, orders, drug, and pharmaceutical detail, patient reactions, errors, and complaints. Ensures delivery of quality pharmacy services and data entry for inpatients and outpatients by computer entry, dispensing, examination of technician work and effective communications. Compounds, labels, and packages medications and pharmaceuticals. Complies with established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, performance improvement programs, safety, environmental, and infection control standards. Advises JMH clinical staff, patients, and families on the use of various medications including dosage side effects and composition. Ensures secure storage of controlled substances on a regular basis. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, committees, workshops, and maintains licensure in Indiana. Assigns technicians and evaluates work performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions and assists with the training of new employees. Assists in preparing required reports. Performs back-up tape changes for the IS department as assigned. Performs other duties as required. Clearly communicates and continuously supports the Mission and Values of Johnson Memorial Health. Conducts all activities in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, standards, and Johnson Memorial Health policies and procedures including Blood and Body Substance Precautions. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:  Current and unrestricted State of Indiana Pharmacy license required. Johnson Memorial Health is a nationally-recognized network of physicians, services and healthcare resources based in Johnson County, Indiana. The centerpiece is Johnson Memorial Hospital, located in Franklin Indiana, just 20 minutes south of Indianapolis.
