This is a Salaried position. Overview This position is located at OSF Little of Mary Medical Center in Evergreen Park The work schedule for this position is: 3rd shift nights; 9:00pm-7:30am and will be 7 on/7 off POSITION SUMMARY: Reports to the Pharmacy Operations Manager and is responsible for compounding and dispensing medications and other pharmaceutical supplies according to established procedures and professional pharmacy practice. Reviews prescriptions, obtains clarifications, analyzes drug therapy and regularly consults with medical staff, nursing personnel and others in order to coordinate delivery of high quality pharmaceutical services to Medical Center patients. Although duties may vary by assigned area or shift, the following accurately describes the essential job functions. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care that is appropriate to the ages of the patients served, including neonatal, pediatric, adult and geriatric. Responsible for efficient and accurate dispensing of all medications by the pharmacy. Serves as a medication consulant for all healthcare professionals. Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education: N/A Licenses/Certifications: PHRM-Pharmacist Other skills/knowledge: The job incumbent is required to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care appropriate to the age of patients served. This requires that the incumbent demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development as well as the physical, emotional, and psycho-social needs of the patient population served. Performs all duties in an independent manner and requests assistance when necessary. Demonstrates the ability to set appropriate priorities during periods of high workload. Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by reading appropriate books, journals and other literature and attending related seminars, conferences and the like. Attends mandatory department, Medical Center meetings, and other work-related educational programs. Assist in teaching/training efforts for the PGY1 Residency Program, students, and onboarding of new team members. Models pharmacy practice skills during residency training. Provides constructive feedback to the residents. Provides resident performance feedback to the Residency Program Director, the Residency Advisory Committee, Resident Mentors, and/or other Residency preceptors. Engages in activities to enhance teaching and training skills. Demonstrates sound professional judgment consistent with clinical/academic background. Must comply with state and federal pharmacy rules and regulations. Must have good communication skills. Must have electronic medical record competency and computer skills. Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills are required. Demonstrated ability to work well with others. Excellent computer skills and the ability to process detailed information in an accurate manner. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Doctorate of Pharmacy (PharmD.) Pharmacy Practice PGY1 residency or Board Certification preferred. Greater than 2 yrs. of hospital experience serving a variety of patient types is preferred.
