This job maintains and coordinates the medication ordering process for assigned areas to ensure that the most cost-effective products are utilized. Works with personnel involved with the operations for the distribution of medication, analyzes systems and operations of the departments via quality control measures in order to identify and rectify problems. Maintains order templates to ensure contracts are up to date for ambulatory clinics.

EDUCATION

Required - Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited College of Pharmacy
Preferred - Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D)
Post-doctoral residency or fellowship

WORK EXPERIENCE

Required - 3 years of Pharmacy Practice, including 1 year of Purchasing Contracting experience

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAS)

  • Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information. Must be proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Well-developed communication skills, as well as excellent judgment, decision making, and delegation skills.
  • Understanding of quality improvement.
  • Leadership teaching skills.
  • Current knowledge of problems of practicing pharmacists and a general interest in the practice of pharmacy Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to set priorities, make critical decisions and respond quickly to emergency requests.
Responsibilities
  • Ensures quality of care and customer satisfaction.
  • Ensures operational profitability.
  • Manages the physical and technological infrastructure of the department.
  • Ensures medication distribution meets all standards and regulations.
  • Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
