PHARMACIST POSITION SUMMARY The Pharmacist is responsible for maintaining standards of professional and ethical practice in the provision of pharmaceutical services within the institution. PHARMACIST MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS * Must hold a valid Pharmacist license in the state of Mississippi. * Must be a supportive team member who contributes to and demonstrates teamwork and team concept. * Able to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action. * Able to deal tactfully with personnel, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public. * Possess leadership and supervisory ability and be able to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel. * Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace PHARMACIST ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS * Maintain all pharmacy records as required by Federal/State law and department policy. * Respond to emergencies and critical incidents at the institution. * Dispense all pharmaceuticals. * Recognize and report possible synergistic, antagonistic, or cumulative effects of drugs. * Provide consultation to staff regarding pharmaceuticals. * Check expiration date of pharmaceuticals and return/dispose of outdated pharmaceuticals and non-returnable goods. * Responsible for purchasing and inventory levels of all pharmaceuticals including over-the-counter medications. * Orient, instruct, and supervise all pharmacy personnel. * Maintain monthly statistical information and reports as directed by administration. * Perform quarterly inspection of aspects of pharmaceutical services and assist in problem-solving activities. * Attend training and meetings as required. * Other duties as assigned.
