Bigstone Pharmacy Ltd is seeking an experienced, highly motivated, and dependable Pharmacy Assistant to join our talented Health Team for the Bigstone communities in which we serve in Wabasca, Calling Lake, and Chipewyan Lake. This is a rewarding opportunity if you have an appreciation for First Nation culture, a desire for continuing professional development and enjoy the support and collaboration from our multidisciplinary team and various other professionals and agencies.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Must be prepared to work irregular hours
  • Good organizational skills, make sound decisions and act quickly in critical circumstances
  • Good knowledge of office procedures, data collection and reporting
  • Be extremely observant to detail and accuracy.
  • Must be able to work in a diverse environment
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Must be a team player and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with Bigstone Pharmacy Ltd policy
  • Ability to speak Cree is an asset

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Grade 12 Diploma
  • Pharmacy Assistant experience is an asset
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Willing to take further training

Responsibilities:

  • Perform the technical component of dispensing including filling medication orders and filling prescriptions
  • Retrieving, counting pouring, weighing, measuring medication as directed by the Pharmacist
  • Invoicing prescription drug orders
  • Provide immediate service to customers at the prescription counter
  • Maintain proper drug storage and security
  • Prepare, package and label prescription medications
  • Maintain prescription and inventory record keeping systems
  • Place and receive orders for stock to maintain inventory
  • Accept payment for prescriptions
  • Merchandising
  • Other duties as required
