PHARMACY ASSISTANT

The Pharmacy Assistant supports the pharmacist, pharmacy technician and pharmacy team with prescription entry and processing, inventory and customer service. This role requires efficient prescription workflow, respect to patient confidentiality and patient safety. The Pharmacy Assistant works under the supervision of the pharmacist in charge or pharmacy manager and follows all company policies, pharmacy procedures, privacy standards and provincial requirements applicable.


Patient Care & Clinical Services


· Greet patients and customers in a friendly, professional, and courteous manner.


· Answer phone calls and direct medication or clinical questions to the pharmacist.


· Receive prescriptions, refill requests, and general pharmacy inquiries.


· Assist with prescription data entry, labeling, packaging, and preparation for pharmacist review.


· Count, measure, and organize medications under appropriate supervision.


· Process prescription pick-ups, releases, and pharmacy counter transactions.


· Support pill pack assembly, basic compounding, and packaging.


Regulatory Compliance


· File prescriptions, scan documents, fax records, and complete general pharmacy paperwork.


· Support insurance claims, third-party billing, prescription refills, and prescription deliveries, if provided by the pharmacy.


· Receive medication and supply orders, stock shelves, rotate inventory, check expiry dates, and replenish supplies.
