JOB DESCRIPTION

Vibrance Pharmacy is seeking a Part-time Pharmacy Assistant to join our team in Calgary, AB. This position will be responsible for providing excellent customer service to patients and providing support to the pharmacy team.

SUMMARY

The Pharmacy Assistant is responsible for dispensary duties including prescription entry/processing, answering telephone calls, preparing prescriptions for Pharmacist review, and other administrative duties as required to support the pharmacy team. The Pharmacy Assistant is expected to support the pharmacy team in all aspects of the operations in order to uphold the pharmacies standard of care.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

Strong communication skills (both oral and written)
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Excellent interpersonal skills
Strong time management ability combined with an ability to work independently to meet competing deadlines
Ability to be a team player in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Pharmacy Assistant experience is an asset
Experience with Kroll is an asset

Responsibilities

Gather and enter patient information in computer system
Responsible for accurate processing of prescriptions, including new prescription data entry, processing refills, picking/labelling/packaging of medications, insurance submission, and preparation of prescriptions for delivery and pick up
Blister packaging
Compounding of prescriptions
Maintaining accurate drug inventory including purchasing and receiving medications and supply items, rotating stock, checking expiration dates, and performing scheduled inventory counts
Place and receive orders for stick and maintain inventory
Provide exemplary service to patients, physicians, other health care professionals and the general public
Adherence to all relevant guidelines including policies, standard operating procedures and any applicable regulatory requirements as set out by the provincial regulatory body
Responsible for the safe and appropriate storage of medications, including knowledge of and adherence to cold chain procedures
Prepare and settle third party insurance claims and records
Proactively problem solve third party insurance issues to ensure timely processing of prescription claims
Compression socks fittings
Attends and participates in staff meetings
Supports the Pharmacist in delegated tasks as directed
May help with scheduling and workflow
