Exciting Opportunity at Pharm@Sea: Join Us as a Pharmacy Dispenser. Pharm@Sea, a wholly-owned subsidiary of University Hospitals Sussex NHS Trust, invites talented individuals to apply for the full time position of a Pharmacy Dispenser for our newly opened second site. Nestled within the Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath, our new site provides a dynamic and rewarding career in a company dedicated to innovative hospital outpatient care. Our original site, Pharm@Sea, has experienced several years of growth and success within the Trust, and the opportunity to expand means that we can now recruit for another newly purpose-built, specialist Outpatient Pharmacy.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Dispenser plays a vital role in ensuring a high quality patient and customer experience is maintained. You will assist with all aspects of dispensing such as assembling prescribed items, stock receipt and storage, as well as sales of OTC and pharmacy medicines to patients.
The post holder will be part of a small high performing team that is expected to demonstrate behaviours that promote our vison, mission and values, which are:

Essential ·

  • NVQ Level 2 in Pharmaceutical Services or equivalent.
  • Current community or hospital pharmacy experience ·
  • Excellent customer service skills ·
  • Strong communication skills - must be able to recognise and overcome barriers to understanding e.g. language, deaf, learning difficulties ·
  • Keyboard and mouse skills ·
  • Use of a pharmacy computer system ·
  • Cash handling and till work experience ·
  • Demonstrable commitment to CPD ·
  • Fluent written and spoken English including good numeracy ·
  • Full UK permit
  • Clean DBS or able to pass one when required

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • At no time should the post holder work outside their defined level of competence or outside of defined SOPs. If the post holder has concerns regarding this they should immediately discuss this with their Manager.

Responsibilities
  1. Prepare labels using the pharmacy computer system and correctly assemble prescriptions, ensuring each item is accurately dispensed and in the correct packaging, according to standard operating procedures (SOP).
  2. Organise the timely supply of out of stock medication to patients and communicate any delays in supply to the appropriate person.
  3. Receive prescriptions/orders and process on to the pharmacy prescription tracking system ensuring accurate data entry, and advise patients on their prescription exemptions.
  4. To respond to symptoms described by customers by following agreed protocols and using own knowledge and judgement, and select and recommend suitable products and provide advice on their correct use.
  5. Receive deliveries from suppliers and manufacturers and assist with stock control, storage and rotation.
  6. Maintain the dispensary area in good order topping up the consumables (bottles, cartons, bags) as necessary.
  7. Aid in the training of new Technicians and Assistants by demonstrating techniques and procedures to undertake labelling, dispensing, sale of OTC and pharmacy only medicines, receipt and storage of stock and in the use of the pharmacy automated dispensing system (robot).
  8. To undertake any other duties that may reasonably be required.
  9. To demonstrate the company’s values and behaviours.
