DISPENSING ASSISTANT

  • Monday and Wednesday and Friday 08:45am-6.30pm (1 hour lunch)
  • Saturdays (1 in 4) 9am-1pm
    We are looking for someone to join our team as a Pharmacy Dispensing Assistant and provide the local community with excellent customer and pharmacy services.
    This is a responsible position that requires concentration and a good eye for detail as accuracy is important. You must be able to work and communicate as part of a team in a busy fast paced environment be able to prioritise a varied workload and effectively multi-task.
    The job is fast paced- the day really does fly by! You will be involved in different workstreams throughout the day as part of a team to achieve our goal of safely supplying medication, healthcare services and advice to our customers and the local community.
    Our teams are small, friendly and work closely together - you will become an integral part of the team from the very start of your journey with Kamsons. Great communication with your colleagues and a teamly can-do attitude will be the key to success.
    Within 3-6months of starting the role you will have the opportunity to undertake and work towards an NVQ Level 2 Pharmacy Dispensing Assistant course.

Main roles and responsibilities will include:

  • Label and dispense prescriptions in accordance with standard operating procedures in an efficient and accurate manner.
  • Ensure the safe supply and appropriate storage of medicines.
  • Ordering sufficient medication and stock in line with company procedures to meet customer demand and date/usage checking to maximise availability and minimise waste.
  • Create and update patient medication records in accordance with data protection principles to ensure patient confidentiality.
  • Assist where necessary with the preparation of monitored dosage systems to benefit patients on multiple medication regimes.
  • Accurately check patient declarations on prescriptions and send data correctly to the NHS to ensure maximum payments are received with minimal losses.
  • Process invoices and paperwork in a timely manner following company procedures.
  • Undertake all necessary housekeeping duties so that dispensary and back shop areas are kept clean and tidy.
  • Work as part of a team and actively demonstrate a willingness to support and achieve the overall business objectives.
  • Liaise with local surgeries and other healthcare professionals and handle queries regarding medication supply to ensure patients with medication and healthcare needs are met.
  • Participate in the delivery of any additional healthcare services for which you will have received adequate training.
