UPMC Corporate Quality is hiring a Pharmacy Information Systems Administrator to join our team! The role will have the opportunity for a hybrid schedule which does include travel. Travel needs will be based on projects and will include travel to UPMC Hamot, Chautauqua, Kane, Northwest, Horizon, and Jameson
The primary purpose of this role is to ensure the effective operation and continuous improvement of the department’s information systems, with a strong focus on customer service and teamwork. The role involves coordinating data management activities, providing technical/operational support, and maintaining productive relationships with healthcare team members and external vendors. Responsibilities
  • Manages and optimizes pharmacy information systems, including the installation, testing, maintenance, and analysis of system components.
  • Ensures system security, data integrity, and operational effectiveness while implementing system changes and/or resolving technical issues.
  • Coordinates hardware placement, setup, and configuration, and recommends system improvements based on user requirements.
  • Collaborates with vendors, IT, and assigned pharmacy department staff to maintain system operations and implement hardware/software upgrades.
  • Acts as a liaison between the assigned pharmacy departments, IT, and external vendors.
  • Provides guidance and support to pharmacy end users to resolve technical problems.
  • Provides training, as needed, to pharmacy end users on the various pharmacy information systems.
  • Builds productive relationships with pharmacy leaders to achieve departmental and Service Line goals.
  • Fosters a positive team environment by assisting and supporting coworkers. Communicates effectively, both verbally and in writing, with all members of the healthcare team.
  • Seeks opportunities for self-development and takes on additional responsibilities.
  • Displays sound judgment and makes informed decisions based on situational assessments.
  • Executes additional duties as assigned.
  • High School degree required.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Three to five years’ experience with pharmacy is required.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of personnel including physicians.
  • General computer and / or PC experience.
  • Requires outstanding ability to work independently towards general goals.
  • Creating and writing management reports.
