UPMC Presbyterian is hiring a Pharmacy Intern to join the Poison Center! If you are a Pharmacy Student with a desire to be a part of a dedicated team, apply today! Schedule: Will work one weekday evening a week: 5PM-9PM Every other weekend is required: 8am-4pm Saturday and Sunday Summer hours: Up to 40 hours per week with every other weekend One major holiday and two minor holidays. Purpose: Under the general direction of the Poison Center program Manager and Director, and general supervision of the toxicology Pharmacists, and toxicology nurses, the Pharmacy intern will perform a wide variety of functions to support the provision of pharmaceutical care to patients at UPMC. These services will be provided in compliance with state and federal regulations, the Joint Commission Standards and the mission and policies of the hospital and departments. The internship provides a hands-on experience and a challenging environment to progressively develop the operational and clinical skills to grow in the field of pharmacy. Responsibilities: Answering toxicology calls and giving recommendations to callers under the guidance of a specialized toxicology nurse or pharmacist Assists the pharmacist with medication review, including but not limited to monitoring allergies and evaluating drug interactions. Where applicable, complete clinical workload documentation (manual or electronic) by the end of each scheduled shift in accordance with Department procedures.
