Job Description

  • The Compounding Manager oversees and is accountable for the oversight of hazardous and non-hazardous sterile and non-sterile compounding at the Oakville, Milton and Georgetown Pharmacy Departments.
  • The Compounding Manager also oversees sterile hazardous compounding in the Pharmacy satellite located at the Oakville site within the Cancer Centre.
  • The Manager ensures Ontario College of Pharmacists compliance with standards related to compounding facilities, equipment and compounding best practices.
  • The Manager is a subject matter expert on United States Pharmacopeia compounding standards and National Association of Pharmacy Regulatory Authorities (NAPRA) standards and will oversee the implementation of practice changes related to these evolving compounding standards.
  • The Manager will ensure all personnel performing compounding activities are trained and that the training is documented. Retraining is provided for employees who fail audits such as gloved fingertip testing.
  • The Manager oversees the maintenance of the compounding equipment and facilities and reviews the environmental testing reports to identify issues.
  • The Manager implements a quality assurance program which meets NAPRA requirements including glove fingertip sampling, air quality sampling and other required audits.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy, Hospital Pharmacy residency preferred; Pharm D preferred.
  • Licensed under Part A of the Ontario College of Pharmacists.
  • Minimum 3 years of related management experience in a progressive health care setting and oriented to the specialized functions of hospital pharmacy.
  • Experience with Computerized Prescriber Order Entry (CPOE) is an asset.
  • Project management experience preferred.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with various clinical disciplines.
  • Works in a self-directed manner to manage and deliver on projects.
  • Ability to motivate and coach individuals.
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, negotiation and conflict management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills: verbal, written and presentation.
  • Satisfactory employment and attendance record

    Status: Permanent Full-time
    Hours: Monday to Friday - 7.5 hour day shifts (Hours are subject to change based on operational needs)
    Salary: $58.060 to $72.576 per hour
