Department Overview Reporting to the director of pharmacy services, this position is responsible for the day-to-day operational management of pharmacy services in relation to inpatient pharmacy. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, employee supervision; education and training of staff; program development; management of business and professional activities of the pharmacy; quality assessment and process improvement; and maintenance of practice standards, customer service, compliance with accreditation standards and applicable laws and regulations; coordination of pharmacy services with other hospital departments, and teaching of pharmacy interns and residents, and staffing. Function/Duties of Position Operations Management: Manages the operations in inpatient pharmacy in a cost-effective manner, directing day-to-day operations (24/7), delegating responsibility and authority for providing services; redesigns and develops processes and programs for maximum safety and efficiency; primary support of automation/technology for inpatient pharmacy services; problem-solves issues identified by staff and internal/external customers; maintains and updates policies and procedures. Monitoring and coordinating pharmacy services for non-sterile centralized pharmacy services Human resources (supervision of staff): Recruits, hires, trains, develops, and supervises assigned staff, develops performance standards, conducts performance appraisal; and recommends salary increases consistent with Hospital policy and procedures. Leadership: Representative of pharmacy leadership as part of the interdisciplinary healthcare team representing pharmacy perspectives. Other Duties as Assigned Required Qualifications BS-Pharm or PharmD, and advanced degree or equivalent experience and PGY2 residency, PGY1 with 2 years of relevant leadership/supervisor experience, or 5 years of relevant leadership/supervisor experience. Licensure in the state of OR Preferred Qualifications MS, MBA, MHA Additional Details The incumbent will spend a significant amount of time at a computer terminal. The position must deal with situations on a daily basis with a high degree of intensity.
