Pharmacy Patient Assistant Program Assistant Job Responsibilities: Research patient prescription information using hospital medical record systems and ensures that all necessary documents are received and completed appropriately. Works collaboratively with clinic staff to educate and inform patients about JH Retail Pharmacy services and medication assistance options. Reviews high cost medications prescribed for outpatients across Johns Hopkins (JH) Pharmacies, conducts patient insurance and financial review and facilitates adherence to medications by ensuring that patients apply to the appropriate medication assistance program(s) and receive their prescribed medications in a timely manner. Processes PAP (Patient Assistance Program) requests promptly and efficiently per policy with documentation in all appropriate systems. Runs weekly reports to monitor PAP applications still pending/not resolved and takes appropriate action. Receives, stores and maintains PAP medication inventory and maintains correct documentation of PAP inventory from the pharmaceutical manufacturers. Minimum Qualifications: Education: High School or GED. Certification: Registered Pharmacy Technician in the state of Virginia or a Pharmacy intern license. Basic Life Support (BLS) within 3 months of hire. Preferred Qualifications: Experience: Two (2) years hospital experience as a Pharmacy Technician. Must have knowledge of pharmacy work routines, materials, and/or equivalent mathematics and terminology (i.e. brand and generic drug names).
