NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.
We are looking for a highly motivated and proactive individual to join our small and friendly pharmacy team in the delivery of clinical pharmacy services to a variety of clinical areas throughout Vale of Leven Hospital and other North Sector Hospital sites. Although based at Vale of Leven Hospital, cross sector working in any North Sector site will be required.
The post holder will be an integral member of the pharmacy team and work closely with the wider multidisciplinary team including nurses, medical staff, pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. Roles will include processing and providing medicine top up to wards, theatres and departments, including automated cabinets, organising and co-ordinate ward top up, process emergency indents for medicines to wards and departments, receive and receipt medicines into pharmacy department as well as providing an accurate dispensing service to both inpatients and outpatients. The labelling, dispensing, stock management and accurate recording keeping of medicines including controlled drugs is included in this role as well as participating in audit and collation of documentation.
You must have excellent communication skills both verbal and written and be able to organise and prioritise your own workload and the workload of others. National 4 qualification or above (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics and a willingness to complete an SCQF Level 6 unit as part of your development. Although experience is desirable it is not necessary as full training will be provided.
The shift pattern is Monday-Friday 8:45am- 4:45pm/4:15pm on a Wednesday and includes participation in public holidays and weekend working at Gartnavel campus.
