Job Title: Pharmacy Support Worker - Aseptics

Pay Rates: £13.13-£14.92
Please note, the rate of £14.92 is inclusive of holiday pay.
Hours: Monday – Friday 8.30-4.30

RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THIS ROLE INCLUDE:
· Will accurately prepare and dispense a wide range of aseptically prepared medicines to wards, outpatients and the cancer day unit. Products include cytotoxic chemotherapy, monoclonal antibodies and aseptic products.
· Will accurately dispense oral cytotoxic medicines and supportive treatments for cancer patients using the JAC computer system.
· Will participate in the environmental monitoring of the aseptic unit and daily, weekly, monthly, 3 monthly and 6 monthly cleans.
· Will follow all legal and departmental practices including Standing Operating Procedures (SOPs), GMP (orange guide), COSHH and lifting and handling regulations and all Trust policies and procedures.
TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN APPLYING FOR THIS ROLE YOU WILL NEED:
· Concentration when producing paperwork and dispensing medicines to minimise the risk of errors. Accuracy is essential in this area as the medicines used are cytotoxic and doses are calculated individually for each patient.
· Routine lifting of heavier items e.g. waste bins, IV fluids, and 2.5L parenteral nutrition bags.
· The ability to deal with frequent interruptions to answer the telephone, and deal with queries from medical, nursing and pharmacy staff, referring to more senior staff when appropriate.
